Thank you for giving us the greatest job in the world. We get to spend our days with dogs, for dogs and about dogs and without the trust of our customers we simply would not have this opportunity.
The single most important element to a dog’s life (after the love of his human) is his daily dog diet. The food you put in your dog’s body, more than anything else, will determine his future dog health, happiness, well-being, energy level and may even have an impact on his vet bills.
We started JustFoodForDogs with one simple, primary objective - to increase the quality and length of life for as many dogs as possible. We do two things here... we make daily food for healthy dogs and we custom formulate nutrients and food into very specific diets for dogs with special health issues. Dogs with liver disease, kidney disease, diabetic dogs, dogs on chemotherapy, overweight dogs, etc. All of our food is made from ingredients certified by the USDA for human consumption and we add all of the necessary nutrients to make our meals complete and balanced. Our recipes are developed by our own team which includes a veterinarian, nutritionist, pet chef and a cadre' of dogs and dog lovers.
We have every confidence that our recipes are the healthiest food you can feed your dog and if for any reason you prefer not to purchase from us, we would be happy to give you all of our recipes for our daily food so you can make our homemade, healthy food yourself. We even hold classes at our dog kitchen and dog bakery where we will teach you how to make our healthy food for dogs at home. Our recipes and classes are always free of charge.

Your dog’s diet is the single most important element
of his life that is within your control. If you study the
annual Veterinarian Pet Insurance (VPI) list of top ten reasons dogs visit their veterinarian you will see that poor diet is likely the number one cause for these visits. According to VPI, the #2 reason dogs visit their vet is “dog skin allergies” and the #1 reason is “recurring dog ear infection caused by allergies”. In the third edition of his book, Natural Health for Dogs & Cats Dr. Pitcairn, DVM, PHD lists “feeding pets commercial food diets” as one of the top three reasons for weakened immune systems and the increased presence of allergies in dogs. Simply put - if your dog suffers from itchy skin, hot spots, ear infections or excessive licking there is a pretty good chance it’s related to his food.
The ingredients in commercial dog food and puppy food are almost entirely poor quality. In fact it’s so bad, sometimes it’s hard to actually believe what goes into dog food. Look at it this way, if the pictures of prime beef, chicken and lamb were really in the package, how would they sell a huge bag for $40? And if what they show in their marketing really is representative of the dog food ingredients - it would have to be the nutritional bargain of the century. The commercial dog food manufacturers almost exclusively use meat by-products, rendered meat, etc. for protein sources and for cheap carbohydrates and calories they use grain parts that are not fit for human consumption and would otherwise be thrown away. These dog food ingredients are typically difficult or impossible for dogs to even digest or assimilate.
Not all calories are equal. Protein is not all the same. Much of what shows up in dog food has almost no nutritional value and cannot be synthesized by a dog’s system. If your dog’s system cannot convert what you are feeding him because it’s so poor in quality and or has been so over-processed, then the food you are feeding him becomes harmful. Nothing more than empty filler.
Excluding euthanasia (“unwanted dogs”), cancer in dogs is the leading cause of death for dogs in the United States. One of the leading suspected causes of cancer in dogs is commercial dog food. Why? Because of the chemical additives and the preservatives used in the mass production of mainstream, commercial dog food.
Simply put, nothing is more important to your dog’s wellness than the food he eats, and in our view, nothing is better than JustFoodForDogs.
