There are myriad benefits to feeding fresh.
We believe the foundation of health, quality of life, and longevity of our pets is nutrition. You are what you eat, right? Our studies, published in peer-reviewed journals, found that dogs who ate fresh dog food had: increased nutrient and amino acid absorption, improved immune system function, and reduced stool volume compared to kibble-based diets.
Pet parents who feed their dogs fresh have reported more energy, increased excitement at mealtime, healthy weight, brighter eyes, shinier coats, and healthier stools. Plus, pet parents of choosy canines find that adding fresh food to their dog’s diet made picky eating a thing of the past.
Science-based: JustFoodForDogs pioneered the fresh dog food category back in 2010 and is the only fresh dog food company to have invested in over a decade of research in canine nutrition. We didn’t cut corners to put just any old dog food on the market—we dedicated years of research to ensure each recipe brought science-backed benefits to our furry loved ones. Our studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals, the results of which are even used by our competitors to promote their brands.
Variety: JustFoodForDogs offers more recipe choices than any other fresh dog food brand. With a variety of protein options, grain-free and grain-inclusive options, and even custom formulations based on your dog’s individual needs, pet parents can find the perfect meal for their pet.

Pet parents will be surprised to hear just how loosely regulated the pet food industry is—not to mention what’s legally allowed in kibble. To understand one of the main differences between human-grade food and kibble, one must understand the difference between food and feed.
“Feed” ingredients are the ingredients that most pet food companies use to make kibble but are deemed unsafe for human consumption. Feed-grade ingredients can include chemicals, fillers contaminated with mycotoxins, and what’s called “4D” meats: dead, dying, diseased, or disabled animals from farms and even shelters.
Human-grade ingredients, on the other hand, have higher safety and quality standards and undergo inspection by the USDA. Ingredients approved by the USDA are safe for human consumption and consist of the same food you find at your local grocery store or restaurant. JustFoodForDogs only uses human-grade ingredients in its recipes.
You transition the same way you would if you were to change your dog’s kibble. For most dogs, it is recommended you gradually replace the old food with the new food over a period of 7-10 days. For example:
Days 1-3: 25% JustFoodForDogs/75% current food. Days 4-7: 50% JustFoodForDogs/50% current food. Days 8-10: 75% JustFoodForDogs/25% current food. Days 11+: 100% JustFoodFor Dogs
