USDA Certified Ground Turkey
We only use the finest USDA Certified, restaurant grade ground turkey in this healthy dog food recipe. Turkey for dogs is a superior source of lean protein and contains selenium, niacin, iron, zinc, phosphorous, potassium and B vitamins.
Whole Wheat Macaroni
Unlike the more common pasta, whole wheat pasta has no wheat glutens, which is very difficult for dogs to digest. Because it is made from the whole grain it delivers a higher level of nutrients, including fiber, folic acid and iron. Pasta made with bleached flour is substantially less expensive than whole wheat pasta but the nutritional difference between these two items is considerable so we use whole wheat exclusively.
Broccoli
Broccoli is an excellent source of the vitamins K, C and A as well as folate and fiber. Broccoli for dogs is also a good source of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and the vitamins B6 and E.
Zucchini
Zucchini is an excellent source of manganese and vitamin C. Zucchini for dogs is also a good source for magnesium, vitamin A, dietary fiber, potassium, copper, folate and phosphorous. In addition, it is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins B1, B2, B6, calcium, zinc, niacin and protein.
Carrots
Carrots are full of antioxidant compounds and are one of the richest sources of the pro-vitamin A carotenes. The antioxidant compounds help to prevent heart disease, cancer in dogs, and help protect good vision. In addition, Carrots for dogs are a very good source of vitamins C and K, potassium and dietary fiber.
USDA Certified Turkey Liver
Turkey liver is a nutrient dense food. Ounce for ounce, it contains the most concentrated amounts of protein and vitamin A. It's a rich source of heme-iron, the most absorbable form of iron. Liver is also high in copper, folate, riboflavin, niacin, phosphorous and zinc.
Cranberries
Cranberries are considered to be one of the world’s most healthy foods. Cranberries for dogs provide an excellent source of vitamin C, a very good source of dietary fiber and a good source of vitamin K.
Cranberries promote gastrointestinal health by preventing bacteria from attaching to cells and disrupting bacterial communication. They are also full of antioxidants, flavonoids and polypenols which can protect dogs against heart disease, free-radical damage, artherosclerosis (clogged arteries) and urinary tract infections.
Safflower Oil
Safflower oil contains essential omega-6 fatty acids which, via prostaglandins, strengthen cell membranes and regulate every function in the body at the molecular level. Canola oil for dogs is both more common as well as more affordable than safflower oil but given the controversy surrounding canola oil and the superiority of safflower oil for dogs we believe the expense is justified.
Multi-Vitamin & Mineral Blend
We produce a custom blend of minerals and vitamins for dogs specifically for our premium dog food and include it within each recipe. Every ingredient within this blend, without exception, is approved for human consumption. This is important because only premium, human consumable vitamins and minerals can provide the proper ratio of micro and macronutrients to help maximize the use of protein, carbohydrates and fats for your healthy dog. Minerals for dogs aid in the development of dog bone, teeth and cartilage; they also regulate blood and serve as a catalyst in enzyme and hormone systems. Vitamins for dogs play a significant roll in DNA synthesis, normal eye function, blood clotting, amino acid and protein metabolism and nerve impulse transduction, as well as other functions.
